The Philanthropist Synopsis

The Philanthropist is an action television series produced by NBC that debuted on June 24th 2009.

The Philanthropist follows the story of Teddy Rist (played by James Purefoy) who is a billionaire and a playboy. After the death of his only child and after he rescues a boy in Nigeria he decides to dedicate his life and his wealth to helping others.

The series is loosely based on the real life efforts of billionaire Bobby Sager.
