Storm Chasers Synopsis

Storm Chasers is a documentary series airing on the Discovery Channel. It follows a group of scientists and weather junkies as they chase tornadic storms. They seek to get data about the storms from inside a tornado, thereby improving early warning systems.

The team is led by tornado expert, Joshua Wurman. The teams use specially-designed vehicles that allow them to get close to and film tornadoes and collect data with a minimum of danger. The team includes meteorologists, navigators, and filmmakers.

Storm Chasers has aired two seasons on the Discovery Channel. It also led to a spin-off mini-series, The Science of Storm Chasing, which explains how tornadoes form and how Wurman’s team tracks them.
