Apple’s ban on any kind of adult content on the iTunes App Store coupled with its policy of refusing to support Adobe Flash means porn on the iPad isn’t obvious and in your face. But don’t worry, as porn companies aren’t easily beaten.

The Apple iPad is now in the wild, after having been released to the public on Saturday (April 3). The tablet device is garnering some very positive reviews (and a few negative ones, it has to be said) with a general feeling that this is a product that could fill a void.
Video on the iPad isn’t cut and dried. Apple’s refusal to offer Flash support has continued with the iPad, but video sites and services are endeavoring to convert their content to the HTML5 standard. And Netflix and Hulu apps are heavily rumored.

The porn industry is one swilling with money, mainly derived from preying on the fact that sex sells. To a massive degree.
This means that the porn industry is generally at the cutting edge of technology. If it doesn’t inhabit this space then it cuts potential customer numbers by a huge degree, and less customers means less money.

With the iPad, this means that companies offering porn movies have more reason than companies in other industries to push the envelope and convert their videos to HTML5 so that iPad users can still access content.

Apple has never offered true adult content via its official App Store, and had a crackdown on even the barest of risqué content prior to the iPad launching. But the iPad can access the whole of the Web, meaning porn companies have plenty of scope to reach customers.

Where there is new technology, there is porn. And the iPad is no exception. Apple may not like some of the ways in which the iPad can be used, but that’s not going to stop porn companies from utilizing any and all possible ways of reaching paying customers.
