Google Re-trial Coming For Linking Liability

Lock and ChainIf you’ve been reading Web TV Wire for a while you may remember when QuickSilverScreen (QSS), a website that links to pirated videos on sites like YouTube, was forced to be leave U.S soil due to a potential lawsuit from Fox.

QuickSilverScreen’s crime? Linking to infringing content which is generally considered illegal under US law.

QSS is one of many sites facing the impact of this grey area of the law. MahTV, a UK based site, was also forced to shutdown in fear of a lawsuit.

RealnetworksAfter recently acquiring WiderThan, a global provider of wireless entertainment solutions, Realnetworks has now acquired Sony NetServices, a provider of mobile operators with end-to-end white label digital music services which is a joint venture between Sony DADC and Sony Europe.

This acquisition substantially strengthens RealNetworks’ market position in Europe, and adds new technological capabilities that enhance Real’s capacity to offer mobile operators access to its growing portfolio of media solutions, including music on demand (MOD), video on demand (VOD), ringback tones (RBT), games and other solutions.

Connecting your PC to a HDMI High Definition TV

HDMI CableIn the past year or so, computer graphic cards have begun to sprout HMDI ports allowing you to connect your PC to a High Definition (HD) TV via HDMI cables.

I think it was the Sapphire Radeon X1600 Pro that was announced in March 2006 that was the first HDMI graphics card on the market.

While this probably does not mean much to anyone now as there is a lack of HD content available on the internet, we are slowly seeing this begin to change with more internet TV episodes beginning to stream in HD.

TVTonic, for example, has a library of vodcasts that can be watched on a media center PC, with many of them being available in HD and perfect for watching on a plasma television.

Celrun & Metalink Launch HD Wireless IPTV Set Top Box

CelRunWhile news was coming out of Streaming Media East in New York, on the other side of the world the IPTV World Forum Eastern Europe tradeshow in Prague was also bustling with the people and products of IPTV.

At the event Celrun, an IPTV Set Top Box manufacturer, along with Metalink Ltd, a leading provider of high performance wireless and wireline broadband communication silicon solutions, launched a wireless HD IPTV Set Top Box.

Celrun’s new set-top box is designed to deliver HD IPTV over Wireless LAN. The wireless delivery of HD video streams is enabled by Metalink’s 802.11n WLANPlus.

Metalink has already worked with Samsung on a HD IPTV Set TOP Box that it announced in March.
