Star Trek Synopsis
Star Trek
was a science fiction series that aired on NBC from 1966 to 1969. Created by Gene Roddenberry, it followed the crew of the starship Enterprise as it explored the galaxy in the 23rd century.
The crew was lead by Captain Jame T. Kirk, played by William Shatner. His first officer was Mr. Spock, played by Leonard Nimoy. The rest of the crew was rounded out by Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy (DeForrest Kelley), Montgomery “Scotty” Scott (James Doohan), Hikaru Sulu (George Takei, Nyota Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), and Paval Chekov (Walter Koenig).
Although the original Star Trek series was low-rated and canceled after only three seasons, it became a cult hit and the universe lived on through 5 more TV series and 11 feature films, the most recent of which, a reboot of the original series, was released in May 2009 and earned over $76 million in its first weekend.
