Porridge Synopsis

Porridge is a situation comedy television series produced by BBC that first debuted in 1974.

Porridge was created by Dick Clement and featured Ronnie Baker and Richard Beckinsale as two inmates Fletcher and Bakes who are serving a sentence in Slade prison in Cumberland. The name of the series was devised from the slang term “doing porridge” which means serving a jail sentence as porridge was a breakfast dish in UK prisons.

Porridge aired three seasons and two specials. There was also a spin-off series and a TV movie.
