Just got an email from Joost (formally known as The Venice Project) saying that version 0.7.4 of Joost is available to download for beta testers. If you are not sure what Joost is then check out this post with some screenshots. The latest improvements are:

• Row sprites creation improved.
• Channel numbers displayed and selectable from the keyboard.
• Small windowed screen simplified UI.
• Locale support.
• Tooltip improvements, dynamic tooltip messaging.
• Mid-roll advertising improvements; fix the black screen after advert bug.
• Actually pause streams and incoming traffic on minimize to system tray.
• Airbag support in the client, creates mini dump files in the minidump directory within the profile directory.
• Enable dual monitor support again; window can be dragged from screen to screen or to overlap screens.

Here is a copy of the email: “Folks, We’ve just uploaded version 0.7.4 of our Windows client onto the website.

We’ve incorporated a lot of your feedback - from better coping with certain local configurations, firewalls and virus scanners, fixed crashes, added locale support - all the way to user interface tweaks such as better fonts.

We’ve also improved the small window behavior, improved the tooltips, and added channel numbers in the EPG that are selectable from the keyboard.

Airbag support is now included in the client which will create a minidump file in the minidump directory within the profile directory if the client program crashes. Finally, we’ve enabled dual monitor support again; the window can be dragged from screen to screen or to overlap screens.

We’re far from done - the zero in 0.7.4 still signals a beta - so any and all suggestions are very welcome.

Update: It appears an alpha version for Mac is being released today for testing, with a beta version rolling next week.
