The Thomas Beale Cypher is an amazing and innovative short film which can be seen online for free. Its creator, Andrew Allen, believes online video is the way forward for short filmmakers, even trumping film festivals for generating views and interest.

Online Video Trumps Film Festivals?

Creators of independent or short films often have to spend a year on the road showing, talking about, and promoting their work at the numerous film festivals that take place around the world. It’s often tricky to impress or get noticed at these events, purely because of the amount of other films being shown.

However, there could be an alternative that is becoming more and more viable by the day. Online video. Sure, there is even more competition out there on the Web, but with good timing, great contacts, and the ubiquitous dash of luck, it can work out very well indeed.

Have you always wanted to create a YouTube video but were unable or unwilling to do so? Now is your best chance of doing so, thanks to a trio of third-party apps YouTube has teamed up with to help you do so in the simplest way.

YouTube currently gets more than 35 hours of video uploaded to the site every minute of every day. Which is more than I can possibly conceive of. You’d think that would be enough to sate Google’s desire to remain as the number one online video destination, but apparently not.

Keen to help out those people who haven’t got access to any kind of camera – whether it be a Webcam, video camera, or smartphone – and those who don’t feel comfortable showing their faces on the Web, YouTube has teamed with three third-party apps.

These apps – collectively known as YouTube Create – all allow you to create a video for free with nothing other than the tools provided.

Well here’s a turn up for the books. BSkyB, one of the BBC fiercest critics and a former protester against YouView, suddenly wants in on the action alongside other interested media companies. I think I’d tell Murdoch Jr. where to go, personally.

YouView

YouView is the connect TV platform and associated set-top box which was born at the BBC from the ashes of Project Kangaroo. Kangaroo was a joint venture between the main British television networks which would have seen their catch-up services rolled into one. It was killed off by the Competition Commission after complaints from rival broadcasters Virgin Media and BSkyB.

Those same companies also raised objections over YouView, but failed in their bid to see the project halted. And now one of them seems interested in coming on board…

The Upper Hand Synopsis

The Upper Hand is a situation comedy television series produced by ITV that premiered in May of 1990.

Based on the American series Who’s The Boss? The Upper Hand follows the story of Charlie (played by Joe McGann) who together with his daughter Joanna moves in as a housekeeper into the home of Caroline (played by Diana Weston). Caroline is well off, single with a son while her mother Laura (played by Honor Blackman) lives next door to her. While the two try to find romance with other people in the last series they become husband and wife.

The Upper Hand aired seven seasons.

Maverick Synopsis

Maverick is a Western television series produced by ABC that premiered in September of 1957.

Maverick was highly popular Western TV series that helped launch the career of James Garner (Rockford Files). In the series he played Bret Maverick, cagey high-stakes poker player who, more often then not, finds himself in trouble due to his schemes. Bret Maverick was often paired with his brother Bart (played by Jack Kelly) while later additions included their British cousin Beau Maverick (played by Roger Moore) and Brent Maverick (played by Robert Colbert).

Prey Synopsis
