Netflix has acquired first-run access to Paramount Pictures movies for subscribers to its streaming service in Canada. Unfortunately Netflix has been forced to lower the default video quality on its offerings to lower typical users’ bandwidth needs.

Netflix Canada subscribers are getting access to more than 350 movies from Paramount Pictures after Netflix struck a first-run access deal with the studio. Although 350 titles may not sound like much, they comprise of both classics (Wayne’s World, Terms of Endearment) and new releases (Iron Man 2, The Last Airbender).

Canadian subscribers have had somewhat of a bad deal thus far, with less content than their U.S. counterparts. However, this is surely just the first deal which will hopefully narrow the gap between the two services.

Interestingly, as noted by NewTeeVee, many of the titles cited in this deal are already available in the U.S. thanks to the content deal with Epix.

Four of a Kind Synopsis

Four of a Kind is a reality television series produced by Lifetime that premiered in March of 2011.

Four of a Kind follows the story of four Durst sisters – Sarah, Kendra, Megan and Calli – who also happen to be quadruplets. Even though they look exactly the same their personalities could not be more different from each other. They are all 17 and the series follows them as they navigate the challenges of being a senior in high school.

The Model Agency Synopsis

The Model Agency is a reality television series produced by Channel 4 that premiered in 2011.

The Model Agency follows the daily going-ons at one of the most successful modelling agencies in the world – Premier Model Management London. The agency was founded by Carole White (who is a former model herself) and her brother Chris Owen. Some of the models on Premier Model Management books include Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington. The series follows the ways agency works, how they prepare for major fashion weeks around the world and how they secure lucrative jobs for their clients.

Super City Synopsis

Super City is a comedy television series produced by TV3 that premiered in February of 2011.

Created by Madeleine Sami Super City follows the story of five different characters who all live in Auckland City and are all played by Madeleine Sami. Characters include a homeless woman, an aging cheerleader, a gym instructor and a taxi driver.

Becoming Human Synopsis

Becoming Human is a supernatural drama television series produced by BBC that premiered in March of 2011.

Created by Toby Whithouse Becoming Human is a spin off from another BBC show Being Human. It follows the story of Adam Jacobs (played by Craig Roberts) who is a 46 year old vampire trapped in a body of a 17 year old. Adam is trying to lead a normal life and blend in with the humans which means he must go to school and deal with daily challenges all teenagers face.

Twenty Twelve Synopsis

Twenty Twelve is a mockumentary television series produced by BBC Four that premiered in March of 2011.

Written and directed by John Morton Twenty Twelve follows the story of Ian Fletcher (played by Hugh Bonneville) who is the Head of the Olympic Deliverance Commission. The series focuses on Fletcher and his team who are trying to prepare everything for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London but more often then not things they are trying to organize turn out a bit bizarre.

Endgame Synopsis

Endgame is a crime drama television series produced by Showcase Canada that premiered in March of 2011.

Created by Avrum Jacobson Endgame follows the story of Arkady Balagan (played by Shawn Doyle) who is a chess master. While on a visit to Vancouver he is a witness to the murder of his fiancee and the shock of that experience makes him an agoraphobic. Because he cannot leave his hotel without experiencing a panic attack he solves unusual crimes using his analytical skills in a bid to get rid off his massive debt.
