Nokia Teams With Spike Lee For UGCNokia has recently announced that they are teaming up with Spike Lee to create a series of shorts for the User Generated Content community.

This is certainly a positive step for the handset maker who seem to  be seeking to extend into more diverse markets.

Certainly, UGC is huge and the goal of converting millions of eyeballs into dollars has been the Holy Grail for YouTube and a slew of smaller companies.

That Nokia is using their platforms; I gather the N95 along with a name director is certainly a good marketing strategy. Certainly, this is not the first company to seek to work from the top down.

Following on from the successes of MuxTape and Grooveshark, it gives users an easy way of pulling these various media from places online and on your PC, including video sites such as YouTube.

Ubuket is quite easy to use. Once you sign up you can grab songs or videos from a variety of places, including your computer, and turn them into playlists for sharing with your friends, co-workers, blog readers or site visitors.

ITV Joins Web TV Revolution – Selling Hit Shows On iTunes & Collaborating On Kangaroo

ITV Joins Web TV Revolution With iTunesThe BBC have already made its intentions to become a leader in the brave new world on online television distribution, thanks to the phenomenally successful iPlayer, and selling shows through Apple iTunes.

And now, it’s main network competitor in the UK is following suit, first by also making hit shows available through iTunes, and then by collaborating with the BBC and Channel 4 on the forthcoming Kangaroo service.

At the moment, the ITV content going on iTunes is limited to 260 hours, and includes popular shows such as Brideshead Revisited, Cold Feet, Captain Scarlet, Inspector Morse and The Saint.

Filmaka - Independent Web Based Movie Venture Out Of BetaImagine American Idol for TV and filmmakers and you’ll have some idea of where Filmaka is coming from. 

It’s an independent We-based movie venture, and after more than a year in betam, it’s finally come out to the world.

The project has a couple of high-profile backers: indie film producer Deepak Nayar (responsible for movies such as Bend It Like Beckham and Buena Vista Social Club) and former Fox TV network honcho Sandy Grushow, who gave the world shows such as The OC, 24, The X-Files and Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Grushow was also one of the network executives behind American Idol, and says Filmaka is based on a similar premise.

TBS LogoFirst the good news: TBS, the television network which has been broadcasting episodes of Seinfeld for years, has now starting streaming some episodes online at TBS.com.

Now the bad news: Only Windows users need bother visiting the site, as the Soup Nazi aka DRM has decided to tell Mac users “No Seinfeld for you!”
