YouTube has experimented with live streaming various events over the last couple of years, but there’s been no attempt to expand the effort to a wider audience. Until now, possibly.

YouTube Live Streaming

YouTube isn’t a complete noob when it comes to live streaming. The biggest event it has far streamed live is the U2 concert from Pasadena last October. And 10 million people are estimated to have tuned in to watch.

There have also been presidential speeches and healthcare debates. But then came a definite upscaling of the effort when YouTube streamed all 60 matches of the Indian Premier League tournament over the course of 45 days.

Sanford and Son Synopsis

Sanford and Son is a situation comedy television series produced by NBC that premiered in January of 1972.

Sanford and Son follows the story of Fred G. Sanford (played by Redd Foxx) and Lamont Sanford (played by Demond Wilson) who own and run a junk dealer business in the Watts neighborhood in Los Angeles. The series was based on British sitcom Steptoe and Son. Sanford and Son had a successful run even though it aired during the Friday night death slot. Time magazine included Stanford and Son in their list of 100 Best Shows of All Time.

Sanford and Son aired six seasons.

MTV’s Hired Synopsis

MTV’s Hired is a reality television show produced by MTV that premiered in May of 2010.

MTV’s Hired follows a group of recent graduates who are trying to find their first job after university. The cameras follow them through their application and interview process in different industries up until the point one person is hired. The others have to find another vacancy and try again.

MTV’s Hired is currently in its first season.

The Tripods Synopsis

The Tripods is a post-apocalyptic Science Fiction television series produced by BBC that premiered in September of 1984 on BBC and Australian Seven Network.

The Tripods is based upon novels written by John Cristopher. Its story is set in the near future when human beings are dominated and controlled by alien invaders riding in giant tripod machines while the main characters travel through the conquered Europe looking for the way to defeat them.

The Tripods aired two seasons until it got canceled due to the budgetary concerns.

The Tomorrow People (1973) Synopsis

The Tomorrow People (1973) is a Science fiction children television series produced by ITV that premiered in April of 1973.

The Tomorrow People was based on a concept of children beginning to manifest psionic powers – the next step in the human evolution. The protagonists of the series tried to prevent villains from abusing these unique abilities and helped those who only began to manifest them. The series was highly popular and it was canceled due to the budgetary concerns. The Tomorrow People was remade in the 1990s.

Tour of Duty Synopsis

Tour of Duty is a war drama television series produced by CBS that premiered in September of 1987.

Created by Steve Duncan and L. Travis Clark Tour of Duty followed the story of Bravo Company’s infantry platoon on tour of duty in Vietnam and under the command of Lieutenant Myron Goldman (played by Stephen Caffrey). The series was ground-breaking in many ways because it addressed the issues of addiction, racism and suicide among others. It won an Emmy award.
