The Inbetweeners Synopsis

The Inbetweeners is a comedy series that debuted in May of 2008 on E4 Channel. In November of 2008 it aired on UK’s Channel 4.

The Inbetweeners centers around the character of Will, who due to his parents’ divorce and his mother’s consequential financial struggles leaves a private school and start attending the local comprehensive. The series is named after teenagers that are “stuck in between” – not cool enough to hang out with the popular crowd and not geeky enough to be labeled nerds.

The Inbetweeners has been nominated for a BAFTA award and is currently in it’s second season.

The growth in online video, both in popularity and the number of services available, has been great to see. And it’s likely to carry on in the same vein for years to come. However, could sites such as YouTube, Hulu, and the BBC iPlayer end up slowing down the Web?

From Bad To Worse?

Depending on where you live, the type of Internet connection you have got, and the terms your ISP enforces, that image to the right could be a regular occurrence for you. As it stands, the Internet can slow down at times to make loading heavy-graphic Web pages or transferring files a very pedestrian affair.

However, it could be about to get a lot worse, if new research to be published later this year is to be believed. Internet brownouts could become very regular happenings, and online video is being touted as one of the main reasons behind it.

Without A Trace Synopsis

The procedural drama Without A Trace has aired on CBS since 2002. Starring Anthony LaPaglia as FBI agent Jack Malone, it’s about a Missing Persons Unit of the FBI in New York City. The series also stars Poppy Montgomery, Eric Close, Roselyn Sanchez, Enrique Murciano, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

The drama will wrap its seventh season in May 2009. Despite ratings that would make it a hit on other networks (a top 20 show with an average of 12 million viewers this season), it’s in danger of being canceled after this year because of high production costs.

ReGenesis Synopsis

A different kind of procedural, ReGenesis follows the scientists in the organization NorBAC as they investigate phenomenon of a biological nature.

Such phenomenon includes mysterious diseases, changes in the environment and other biological concerns, usually meant to bring about an ethical discussion of science.

ReGenesis stars Peter Outerbridge as the chief scientist David Sandström, and also features Conrad Pia, Dmitry Chepovetsky Maxim Roy, and a pre-Juno Ellen Page as David’s daughter.

Blackadder Synopsis

Blackadder is a comedy series that debuted in 1983 on BBC One.

Blackadder follows the story of Edmund Blackadder (played by Rowan Atkinson) and his sidekick Baldrick (played by Tony Robinson) through different periods in English history. While Blackadder is a cynical opportunist, Baldrick is a general dogsbody and unintelligent to booth.

Blackadder series had a number of recurring guest stars including Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Miranda Richardson, Tim McInnerny, Robbie Coltrane and Rik Mayall. The first season was written by Richard Curtis and Rowan Atkinson while the rest of the episodes were written by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton.

Blackadder was voted second best British sit-com of all time by a poll conducted by BBC, ITV and Channel 4 in 2004.

Raising The Bar Synopsis

Raising The Bar is a legal drama airing on TNT. It stars Mark Paul Gosselaar as Jerry Kellerman, an idealistic public defender. He clashes frequently with Judge Trudy Kessler (Jane Kaczmarek) and Michell Ernhardt (Melissa Sagemiller), the prosecutor with whom he is having a secret affair.

The series also stars J. August Richards, Gloria Reuben, Jonathan Scarfe, Teddy Sears, Natalie Cigliuti, and Currie Graham.

Raising The Bar debuted with 7.7 million viewers, the most ever for a new series on basic cable. Despite a drop to an average 5 million viewers per week, TNT recently picked up series for a second season of 15 episodes. It will return later in 2009.

Futurama Synopsis

Created by Matt Groening of The Simpsons, Futurama follows the adventures of Fry, a pizza boy who, in a bit of laboratory mishap, is cryogenically frozen and wakes up 1,000 years in the future.

He’s not alone, though. He has one last descendant, an incredibly old scientist who runs a galactic shipping company. Now he travels the universe and pals around with his Planetary Express co-workers.

These co-workers include the one-eyed, purple-haired Leela, the surly, drunk robot Bender, the medically inept crab creature Dr. Zoidberg, and others.
