EnjoyMyMedia | Placeshift Your Media to Share with Friends

Posted on Tuesday 26 June 2007

enjoymymedia.gifEnjoyMyMedia today announced the release of its beta Private Netcasting™ system, which enables users to broadcast digital multimedia—photos, videos, audio, documents or any other file—over the Internet in private channels.

EnjoyMyMedia is essentially a combination of Flickr and YouTube, though you share your files directly from your computer. By placing your content in a folder specified on your computer, you can instantly create your own broadcast channel. The free version of EnjoyMyMedia has a limit of 1 GB.

While marketing the sharing aspect of the software, EnojyMyMedia also would suffice as a means of placeshifting your video, audio, and picture files.

One cool feature of EnjoyMyMedia is the ability to sequence how your media is viewed. You can create the order of videos, pictures, or music shown online. Upcoming versions of the software is expected to allow friends to ‘produce’ movies from your content as well.

The Future of Broadcast Media | Accenture’s Media Content Survey 2007 (Research Paper)

Posted on Tuesday 26 June 2007

Media Content Survey 2007I’ve become a regular reader of the free IPTV and broadcast media research publications that the research group Accenture publish. The latest free research paper to hit the virtual internet book shelves is Accenture’s Media Content Survey 2007.

For this publication Accenture surveyed more than 100 of the most influential content executives in leading worldwide companies in the film, TV, music, radio, videogame, publishing and advertising industries.

This really gives an insight into what the powerful people within the media industry think about its future. While the survey is not centered on the broadband video/IPTV industry, the current state of the media world makes the internet central to this report.

iPhone to Include YouTube Application

Posted on Monday 25 June 2007

YouTube Logo

Oh, iPhone, is there anything you can’t do? While the answer is still “yes”, web video addicts will nonetheless be happy to hear that the brains at Apple have included a dedicated YouTube player in their new phone-cum-PDA.

As ever, the interface is simple, intuitive and as pretty as a bag of bikini models. That is, assuming that the following commercial is an accurate representation of the device’s capabilities.

The iPhone, due for release on the twenty-ninth of this month, will even include a YouTube icon on its home screen, meaning that you’ll only ever be one touch away from all the skateboarding dogs, piano-playing cats and videoblogging emos you can take.

WiTV from CrossCast Systems | Browser Based Joost Competition - Apple TV Friendly

Posted on Friday 22 June 2007

CrossCast systemsI recently rambled on about how the StreamCast Player was the most elegant flash player I had ever seen. The guy behind this fluid browser based video player, Micro Pasqualini, also hinted to me he had another project in the works called WiTV, but that this was “top secret”.

Yesterday I managed to have a chat with Pasqualini, who shed a bit of light on what this whole WiTV thing is…

I have to say I am very intrigued by the talk of a browser based Joost and Apple TV compatibility.

Fox Partners with Brightcove to Provide Web TV

Posted on Wednesday 20 June 2007

brightcovelogo.jpgFox Entertainment Group has announced a partnership with Brightcove to launch internet video channels of all Fox broadcast and cable content, including FX Network, Speed and Fox Broadcasting.

This deal is interesting because it allows syndication of Fox content throughout the internet using embedded video. Fox will handle advertising for all content displayed in the Brightcove player. Fox Entertainment Group’s content will extend beyond just Fox’s websites.

Brightcove has existing agreements with major players like CBS, MTV Networks, and Discovery, although none have been exclusive. This new deal is for Fox’s exclusive online partnership. You won’t be seeing Fox content on YouTube anytime soon.

Content is king for internet video. This is a major deal for Brightcove, which is aiming to ink similar exclusive partnerships with other major networks and companies.

joost_views.jpgJoost has reached advertising agreements with over 36 companies, with many insisting that they will only have advertisements placed next to content that has been cleared for copyright.
