YouTube Promise InVideo Adverts Will Be Controlled By The Content Creators

Posted on Sunday 26 August 2007

YouTube LogoYou will have probably read or heard about last week’s YouTube announcement and official debut of embedded overlay advertisements.

This advert distribution video is appropriately called InVideo but will it prove to be a successful endeavour?

If you’ve browsed the site quite a bit in the past few days, chances are you might have already seen one or two or more such spots presented in the new format.

If so, you might be wondering if you’ll be seeing a lot more of them as time passes. You might be wondering whether they’ll eventually be everywhere, inside every video found within the website’s servers.

Fear not, that’ll never be the case. Probably not, anyway.

Why YouTube Embedded Advertisements Will Fail | InVideo Ads Are Distracting

Posted on Saturday 25 August 2007

YouTube LogoEarlier this week, Google announced the inevitable: the addition of embedded in video advertisements to YouTube

Appropriately called InVideo ads, these will start to appear more and more in any videos you watch from now on.

The blogosphere has mixed results about the new feature; publishers are eager to make money off of their video offerings and users want a clean, uninterrupted experience.

Mobile Video Streaming Tools | How To Build A Portable Video Streaming Kit

Posted on Saturday 25 August 2007

Robin Good Console

I have taken my first steps in to the world of live video streaming in the first half of 2007.

An Italian audience have followed my non-stop reports from several of the largest bar camps held recently here in Italy.

They have seen with how much passion and interest I have taken this new communication challenge.

One of the nicest things to happen thanks to my voluntary experimentation with live video streaming on RobinGood.TV, was the opportunity to meet some truly fantastic people.

Those people, excited themselves by my new video discoveries have offered in many different ways their talent and skill to help me out.

Among these one has stood out the tests of time and has invested notable time and efforts to help me several dreams I had been playing with.

These included the ability to build a truly portable video streaming station, together with added peripherals and functionalities that would have helped me video stream hands-free from just about any place, Justin-style.

YouTube Video Embedded Adverts Fight | Brightcove, AdBright & VideoEgg Claim They Did It First

Posted on Thursday 23 August 2007

YouTube LogoYesterday, Google YouTube officially debuted its new in-video ad delivery system.

After weeks of experimentation, the first embedded video advertisements went live.

Trawling my selection of news feeds this morning, I came across several rather amusing bits on a spat (well, maybe not a spat, but I’ll put the word to use here anyhow) being had between VideoEgg and YouTube.

The former is more or less accusing the latter of stealing its overlaid-ad thunder.

The latter’s response, well, actually there’s been no response, from what I gather.

Premier League Live Online | Fox Sports New Live Streaming Service in Oz

Posted on Thursday 23 August 2007

Fox Sports Logo

Australian fans of the English Premier League (EPL) will now be able to watch games live on the internet thanks to a new service from Fox Sports.

In what is one of the first real offerings of live online broadcasts of long-form sports in Australia, fans can pay as little as AUD$7.95 to access a weekly pass enabling them to view four live online broadcasts as well as selected online replays on-demand. AUD$89.95 will buy you a season pass.

The launch of the service might raise some eyebrows with Australia’s major pay-TV carrier, Foxtel. Usually, EPL fans would have to subscribe to a pay-TV service such as Foxtel to watch Fox Sports broadcasts. However, this new service will now allow them to bypass pay-TV.

Adobe Flash Player 9 | HD Online Video Support

Posted on Thursday 23 August 2007

Flash Player 9.0

Adobe has announced that its updated Flash Player 9.0 will support the H.264 video format, an MPEG 4 compression format that can sustain HD video.

Some reports have claimed this could be the catalyst for making high-resolution web video a reality – especially given Flash player is the technology that drives video playback on popular video sharing sites such as YouTube.

Moviestar – as the new version of Flash Player 9 is colloquially known – will be able to play 1080p HD video encoded in a variety of formats. It can also take advantage of hardware acceleration for improved performance – a great feature for smooth full screen playback.

Moviestar is still in beta release and can only be downloaded from the Adobe Labs site.

YouTube Experiments With Embedded-In-Video Advertisements

Posted on Thursday 23 August 2007

YouTube LogoYouTube are continuing to experiment with embedding advertisements in videos after beginning to test adverts back in May. The ads are reportedly being sold for $20 per 1000 views and we are still left wondering about how YouTube will be working out its revenue share with video producers.

The company has now begun to display overlaid advertisements, shown inside a 20% sliver of real estate at the bottom of the video window.
