NBC recently announced that it has chosen Amazon over the almighty Apple and will be migrating their digital video content to Amazon Unbox soon.

This decision has not surprised Industry Pundits as NBC and Apple had been embroiled in a very public stand-off over the past couple of days.

The bone of contention being Apple’s uniform pricing policy and payment distribution method which was found not too favorable by NBC, hence the company’s shift to Amazon.

Videos on Amazon Unbox will retail for $1.99 (same as iTunes) and from September 10 onwards, one can also download the pilot episodes of the upcoming Bionic Woman, Chuck, and Journeyman, for free.

NBC as expected were optimistic about the new collaboration: “Amazon is a company that understands the value we provide as content owners to its business,” said NBC Digital Distribution chief Jean-Briac Perrette.

So what does that mean for us, the consumer? Amazon may support video downloads directly from and to TiVo but Unbox videos don’t play on iPods which just may be its Achilles Heel.

However on the plus side, one will be privy to full season downloads at hefty discounts. So next time you want to keep up to speed with the crazy antics of the “Office” cast or see what the “Heroes” are doing to save the world, head over to Amazon Unbox.
