The Singing Detective Synopsis

The Singing Detective is a noir musical television series produced by BBC One that premiered in November of 1986.

Created by Dennis Potter The Singing Detective follows the story of Philip E. Marlow (played by Michael Gambon), a mystery novel writer who is suffering from writer’s block. He is also diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and since he condition gets progressively worse he is hospitalized. While in hospital and due to pain, fever and delirium, he starts to inhabit a mystery world set against the backdrop of his novel called the Singing Detective.

The Singing Detective aired one season.
