Online Video Second to Online Gaming for US Adults

Online Gaming

A recent study has revealed that US adult internet users play games online more than they watch short video clips.

According to the report by Parks Associates, 34% of US adult internet users indulge in online gaming on a weekly basis, compared to 29% who said they would watch short online videos at least once a week. Visiting social networking sites on a weekly basis was performed by 19% of the users.

However, the reign of online gaming is under threat – the study also showed that the year-on-year growth rate of watching online video was a massive 129% compared to 79% and 46% for online gaming and social networking respectively.

With the popularity of sites such as MySpaceTV and YouTube – together with the seemingly endless new online video sites being launched each month – next year’s report will almost certainly have a different outcome.
