The Gentle Touch Synopsis

The Gentle Touch is a police procedural television series produced by ITV that premiered in April of 1980.

Created by Terence Feely The Gentle Touch follows the story of Detective Inspector Maggie Forbes (played by Jill Gascoine), a female police officer who has risen through the ranks based on merit. The series followed challenges Maggie faced daily in her male-dominated profession but also her personal life as she was left widowed in the first season and had to raise her teenage son on her own. The Gentle Touch was the first British series to have a female lead as a police detective.

The Gentle Touch aired five seasons.
