Rumpole of the Bailey Synopsis

Rumpole of the Bailey is a legal drama television series produced by BBC that premiered in December of 1975.

Created by former barrister John Mortimer, Rumpole of the Bailey was long-lived British courtroom drama centred on cases of Horace Rumpole (played by Leo McKern), an aging barrister enjoying his courtroom battles far too much to move onto better jobs. Popularity of Rumpole of the Bailey resulted in the series of novels and radio plays. Although the TV series officially ended in December of 1992, new radio plays were still produced early in the new century.
