Nearest and Dearest Synopsis

Nearest and Dearest is a situation comedy television series produced by ITV that premiered in August of 1968.

Created by Vince Powell and Harry Driver Nearest and Dearest follows the story of Nellie (played by Hylda Baker) and Eli (played by Jimmy Jewel) who are brother and sister. Their father leaves them a large sum of money in his will but under one condition – they have to stay together and work at Pledge’s Purer Pickles, his pickle factory for five years. Nellie is hard working while Eli is a womanizer and the two have never seen eye to eye. They squabble over business and domestic matters all the time.

Nearest and Dearest aired seven seasons and was made into a movie.
