Appropriate Adult Synopsis

Appropriate Adult is a crime television series produced by ITV that premiered in September of 2011.

Appropriate Adult is based on the true story surrounding the arrest and questioning of the serial killer Fred West (played by Dominic West). The story focuses on Janet Leach (played by Emily Watson), who was West’s Appropriate Adult during the questioning. In British legal system appropriate adults are volunteers who are called in by the police during questioning and their main job is to make sure the suspect (usually minors, sometimes adults with learning difficulties) are aided in the process.

Appropriate Adult is currently in its first season.
