The Hurt Locker BitTorrent Lawsuit Dies, Someone Allegedly Forgets To Tell The Lawyers

Posted on Saturday 31 December 2011

The Hurt LockerThe Hurt Locker BitTorrent lawsuit is dead, or at least it should be. Unfortunately someone forgot to tell the lawyers. or perhaps the lawyers conveniently forgot to tell the ISPs. That is, at least, according to TorrentFreak.

The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker was a huge critical hit, eventually winning the 2010 Oscar for ‘Best Picture’. Unfortunately it didn’t do quite as well at the box office, only taking $49 million worldwide. It’s taken more since thanks to DVD and Blu-ray sales, but not enough to warm the hearts of the studio behind it.

That studio is Voltage Pictures, which blamed piracy/file-sharing (depending on your point of view) for that poor box office performance. It may not have helped, but to blame it entirely was way over the top. The next step was to go after thousands of alleged pirates looking for compensation.

Posted on Saturday 31 December 2011

Apple TV SetAnother day, another set of Apple television set rumors. 2012 is either going to be the year Apple finally unveils its plans for TV hardware or that the world realizes some of these Apple rumors never actually amount to anything real.

By December Apple execs were reported to be confident enough in the project to be actively talking to media companies. Partnerships would be needed for content, always the key component in determining whether an innovative new product flies or dies.

The Top 10 Most-Pirated Movies Of 2011 Revealed As U.S. Box Office Numbers Disappoint

Posted on Thursday 29 December 2011

Hollywood Sign2011 has been a poor year at the box office, with audience numbers and revenue down to their lowest levels since 1995. But don’t blame piracy, as the list of the most-pirated movies released in the past 12 months suggests bigger issues are at play here.

Hollywood Box Office

Hollywood has had a bad year, with attendances and revenues down by 4- to 5-percent on 2010. This despite both being up during the summer. In other words a poor second half of the year has killed any lingering hopes that 2011 was to be the year the movie industry turned things around.

YouTube Slam Is ‘Hot Or Not’ For Online Videos | Rate Awesome Viral Vids Against One Another

Posted on Wednesday 28 December 2011

YouTube 3D LogoYouTube Slam is the latest attempt by the premier online video site to make stars out of ordinary people while sucking more time away from those of us who spend our days online. And it’s a veritable stroke of genius.

Viral Video

It’s a well-known fact that the vast majority of videos uploaded to YouTube go nowhere. They gain just a handful of viewers, most of which know the uploader personally. Unless a video is picked up and promoted by a site such as WebTVHub then it’s difficult to get noticed.
