Latest Diet Coke & Mentos Experiment
Who would have thought you could have so much fun with Mentos and diet coke!
First Webby Award for Viral Video
This years Webby Awards saw Eepybird make history by being the first to win a Webby Award for a Viral Video. Their crazy little series of experiments got them featured in Time Magazine, G! and People and they have also picked up a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
Many of you may be wondering why anyone would devote so much time to thinking of different ways to drop Mentos into more and more bottles of Diet Coke. Well apart from it being good fun, and all done for the good of science Eepybird are actually making money.
According to CNN and CNET Eepybird received $35,000 from Revver last July for a period of about 2 months. If Eepybird have their head screwed on they’ll be claiming revenue share from other sites like MetaCafe, and hopefully trying to get in on the YouTub Revenue Sharing too.
Unfortunately it sounds like they didn’t get an advertising deal with Diet Coke, which is getting some nice free publicity. Coke spokeswoman Susan McDermott said that the "craziness with Mentos … doesn’t fit with the brand personality".
I have no idea if they got any deals with Mentos, but I think like Diet Coke, Mentos will sit back and enjoy the publicity.
Eepybird do have their own line of merchandise, so if you want to fund this valuable science you can always buy a T-Shirt.
