Will the record industry having secured it's own youtube allow for the creation and continuation of amateur videos with soundtracks of their artists? If so great, if not it will be a huge blow to youtube. This new site shall presumably not feature, amateur videos as one of the big problems is that these amateur videos supposedly decreases the amount of money that the advertisers will pay for page. These videos make up the backbone of Youtube along with clips of kittens and other cute animals and even those often have big label soundtracks. Furthermore, it's yet another blow to in the independent struggling recording artist. it reduces their exposure to new audience when people stop associating youtube with music videos. I have a wait and see philosophy but right now, it seems to be a bad thing. It seems to me that this is just another money grab by the industry.
