Just like Amazon did with it's digital book service...they removed the book "1984" from customers who already purchased it without telling them. This example alone is the reason I do not like pay for streaming video services. If I want to collect a movie and it's sequels...I can have them in their neat cases...which display art that employs...well, artists...and nobody can take it away unless my house is broken into. I own it. I can watch it over and over again...it will not expire or be removed. I can put it in my computer and copy it if it starts getting too scratched up. I can loan it to a friend. I can use it as a cup holder. Whatever I want. I have it. I worked for the money to buy the damn movie and I have the proof right here! I do not like this move to this streaming ppv plan stuff. There is no way to pay in cash so not only are you giving out your credit card info to strangers over a wifi that can be infiltrated by criminals...but you are being tracked. Everything you watch is being written down and stored in some database. Someone is building a "viewer profile" for you to see what sort of "subvertive material" you've been watching. You check books out of the library to learn about certain things you don't want the library to know you are learning about right? I don't want Comcast, Microsoft, or Netflix knowing what I watch. It's bad enough that Blockbuster knows...but I don't have to give them a credit card. It's just a horrible move into a cashless society of no privacy. The whole "if you aren't a terrorist, what is there to hide" theory came in during the Cold War, during WWII, and now during this fake war on terror aka the war on freedom in America. I want to have a private collection. I want to use cash. I don't want big brother ALWAYS knowing everything about me. I'm with Netflix on this...but not because I use them...but because I think we need to continue to make DVDs and VHS for that matter (so the poor can keep up and don't have to waste money on new technology and instead on food & necessities)...and we need to keep brick and mortar businesses so people can A.) Still have jobs. B.) Still have a Friday night stroll through the physical store & enjoy that experience. C.) Still have customer service and human interaction. D.) Get off their asses from time to time and interact with the whole experience of seeing a cover, turning it over, reading the lead-in on the back, and all that. Maybe you'll meet some one...you sure won't sitting on your ass, ordering movies on your Wii. Though Digital Media is convenient…it can be conveniently taken away.
