The Starter Wife Synopsis
The Starter Wife is a comedy series produced by USA Network that debuted in May 2007.
The Starter Wife is based on a bestselling novel by the same name written by Gigi Levangie Grazer. The story centers on Molly Kagan (played by Debra Messing) who is married to a big shot Hollywood executive. He leaves her for a younger woman and through her divorce she is forced to start anew.
The Starter Wife debuted as a mini series (consisting out of six one hour episodes). When it was renewed for second season 10 episodes were filmed. The Starter Wife was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards while Messing’s portrayal of Molly Kagan earned her a Golden Globe nomination. The series was canceled in February of 2009.
