the new tivo HD replaces your cable stb, so not only will you save the box/remote fee, you'll also save the average dvr fee of $10 per month. you will have to pay for the required cable cards, but on my cable system (cablevision) they're $1.25 a month. not too bad. plus, any folks who already have one tivo, will only have to pay $6.95 per month for up to 5 extra tivo boxes. so, in the end, it could cost many tivo owners less to run a tivo HD box, then to have their cable company's dvr.
