This weekend I wanted to watch the latest season of Lost in order to get caught up on the show. I was 100% willing to pay for safe files to download (no viruses) without commercials and that didn't force me to download iTunes (or spyware) onto my computer. Unfortunately, because ABC would rather have viewers not tune into their shows, they haven't made this available. If this content was out there on multiple sites where anyone had the option to conveniently buy or rent the content, then I could understand the RIAA's beef, but if they won't even allow us to pay for the downloads, then I see nothing wrong in going to the P2P networks, in order to get digital copies of the content. Let consumers buy everything they want in a digital file without the onerous DRM restrictions and consumers will be your friend. Try to lock them out and prevent them from making fair use backups and they'll go to war against you. Hopefully, the studios will eventually wake up, but until then, I don't think it's right for them to complain about lost sales, when they don't let you buy something to begin with. My take is this.
