December 18th, 2007 at 8:08 amUstream has been at a stand stilll for over 6 months now!
After looking at Mogulus, I think im sold on the production quality that it provides. One of Ustream’s major setbacks has been it’s IRC servers and Flash chat client. The community that use’s the chatting system has been disrupted many times and there seems to be no hope for ustream to fix the problems. As for promotion of shows via the ustream website it seems to be horrid, many shows that are featured seem to be of empty chairs and offices, or people sleeping in thier beds. One of my main concerns is the live captured broadcasts from the cable tv providers, showing payper view shows or the rouge pornography that seems to crop up from time to time. Ustream provides no way to rate shows by traditional methods, and provides no protections for viewers younger then 16. With the recent change of CEO Chris Yeh to Chuck Wallace, a founder of Esurance, it seems that Ustream is in a state of jelly fishing so early in it’s production. If you look at web stats provided by many web tracking companies, you can clearly see a downward usage trend for Ustream. I think ustream is on the verge of a fallout, as other providers of the streaming platforms continue to follow more of a traditional business model.

July 24th, 2008 at 7:31 amAwesome post on the mogulus/ustream comparison. I wish I’d stumbled on this prior to me delving into the live-streaming world. I tried just about everything and ended up sticking to Ustream.
One thing that I really like about Ustream is that even though it has a good community, the community doesn’t get forced on the end viewer via overzealous players. My boss has sort of a christian event center he runs on the side, and he would not want teen girls dancing in bakinis popping up on his christian church-like site. Myself, hell I’d welcome that with open arms, but you get the point ;p
To see how it fits in, feel free to check out the http://www.marketplacebelievers.org wordpress site I threw together for a side-endeavor of where I work. The only time we’ve taken advantage of the streaming so far is when we were testing, but we want the capability there should we need it, even if it’s only once a year.
Ustream can be (depending on chosen skin/theme) very clean and fit into the site without any hassle at all. From a “corporate world” standpoint, that is sometimes the only real determining factor. Anything beyond that is just icing on the cake.

March 9th, 2009 at 7:57 pmMogulus in my opinion is on the bottom of the list when it comes to internet streaming. For services that have both a community and functionality Ustream and Stickam rule the road.
Ustream gives you a better sense of professionalism while Stickam gives you one of a large audience. Mogulus barely has anything against their competition.
