I'm astounded that Google couldn't see this coming. Even though the user-generated video market recently won a landmark court case that virtually affirmed that the operators of sites such as YouTube could not fairly be held responsible for manually vetting every video to prevent the wrongful distribution of copyrighted content, it's common knowledge that YouTube contains thousands upon thousands of unlicensed clips. These are going to continue drawing legal challenges and upsetting potential content partners. Others recognise the need to nurture relationships with those partners in order to provide the content that people actually want; without doing so by having teenagers ripping and uploading random chunks of copyright material.

Kudos to Hulu for making in-roads so rapidly. I can't wait until they open up to the Australian market.
