Forget having to connect your digital video camera to your PC, copying the video to your hard drive, converting it to a suitable format and then finally uploading it to YouTube: Casio, in co-operation with YouTube, has a YouTube Capture Mode built in to its newest EXILIM digital cameras.
The new feature delivers true point-shoot-share functionality allowing internet video sharing enthusiasts to easily and quickly share videos. When the EXILIM cameras are in YouTube Capture Mode, video is automatically stored at 640 x 480 resolution and H.264 format, ideal settings for YouTube without having to sacrifice video quality.
Software that ships with the camera is configured to remember your YouTube details, so sharing videos of Auntie June’s 50th birthday party (or whatever!) is as easy as docking the camera and pressing a button.
Whilst Casio has said it has exclusive marketing rights for a period of time, there’s no mention of this being a totally exclusive agreement, so I expect other vendors will build this feature into their digital video cameras in future.
