You forget that some of those things might be true for the older “mainstream” but young people are used to handle technical devices to get them to do what they want. And as time goes by the old mainstream is being replaced by a younger more tech savvy mainstream so to speak.
The Apple TV (even though I haven“t tried it yet) seems to really easy to use and I think most people could learn to operate it even though some might need help in setting up the right network first.
The point about people wanting to own solid media, I’m not sure that is true anymore. People want to own some of their media in a solid form, but just look and filesharing, downloading through stores like iTunes and the down fall of print media. Much of our belongings are turning digital.
For me personally the choice stands between a customized Mac Mini and an Apple-TV. I already hook up my MacBook to my TV to watch video podcasts and TV series so an Apple-TV would surelly simplify my life. And I’m not alone in that situation.
