How On Demand Video Transcoding Enables More Personalised Advertising OpportunitiesOn the digital media website Contentinople yesterday, Frank Smith talked about a comment that Philip Inghelbrecht of video sharing site YouTube made during a Digital Hollywood Media Summit in New York.  

Inghelbrecht remarked that 10 hours of fresh content is uploaded to YouTube every minute… which is quite plainly amazing.  

Frank’s post also went on to talk about the strain the volume of new media content is putting on storage, exceeding current capabilities, with an estimated 281 billion Gbytes uploaded in 2007 based on an IDC study sponsored by EMC Corp.

After Hulu Launches - How Many People Are Actually Switching Over To Web TV? 2Hulu eventually launched on Wednesday to an almost equal amount of hype and cynicism.

While some people, such as former CEO of Disney, Michael Eisner, are convinced that due to emerging services like Hulu, Internet content will equal television withinin the next five years, others are less convinced.

Eisner is already producing his second digital-only series to prove his point. But what’s the reality of Internet video content?

Exploring Hulu In Full | Out Of Beta And Officially Launched But Is It Any Good?Hulu officially launched on Wednesday after an extended and very successful period in beta. 

Hulu is a joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corporation which offers multiple online videos. 

As listed on their blog, while announcing the launch:

“Today we are excited to leave our private beta and open Hulu.com to everyone in the U.S.”

So what is the Hulu experience? That depends on your expectations and starting point. I’m going to start with the technical experience since that is how I approached de-constructing the site.

YouTube Logo 2For the last few days there has been speculation over what big announcement YouTube were about to make: A deal with Hulu? High definition video? They’ve taken over the world?

None of these turned out to be true but it could just be that the truth is more interesting anyway, as it means YouTube will now be more user friendly, and irresistible than ever before.

Let’s face it, YouTube was already pretty open, with embedded videos everywhere you look on the Web, but the freshly announced APIs mean we’ll be seeing even more YouTube video related widgets around the Internet.

Steven Spielberg's 'Ghost' Video Hosting Network Venture Gains SupportSteven Spielberg may be best known around the world as a movie director and film mogul, but he is also a fan of the paranormal, and could be about to turn his interest in to a social video hosting network.

He has been rumoured to have been working on the network, code-named Ghost, for quite some time now, and that same rumour mill is still churning.

According to the most recent source, Ghost has found support. It is said that Spielberg will be partnering with long time friend Terry Semel’s group Windsor Media.

With the French ‘three strikes and you’re out’ measures, and the recently mooted effort in the UK to force ISPs to ban file sharers from the Internet, the authorities are cracking down hard.
