Sightspeed 6 Review | The Online Video Interview Recorder Is Here But Is It Any Good?

Posted on Thursday 20 September 2007

Sightspeed LogoRecording video interviews is a lot harder than it sounds. The ability to record good quality video during a one to one, at a distance video conference call is essential in this day and age when people can’t always be physically present at your location but it’s not simple.

Recording both video streams at each end, with in synch audio and the ability to splice the two video recordings in to one has been a tough goal for almost any company out there.

Over a year ago I wrote in fact an article publicly invoking a video interview recorder as the need for such a tool kept increasing among online independent publishers, but no technology provided an easy way to record video conference calls with enough quality and without significant technical troubles.

Until now.

Sightspeed Record Call

A terrific feature for bloggers and online interviews, the technology to online video interviews while recording them is finally here for you to use.

Sightspeed Responded To The Need

Sightspeed, the videoconferencing company behind one of the best and most successful real-time collaboration tools out there, has finally listened and quietly released a new version of its conferencing software which now integrates a fully-featured video interview recorder and splicer.

This is more than just a dream come true. The Sightspeed video recorder can capture any of your online video interviews and record them in separate high-quality AVI video streams.

All this while offering the ability to convert your original recording into either FLV or MPEG video file formats, and a dedicated facility that automatically splices your separate recorded video streams into one master video that can be easily published online.

MySpace Goes Hollywood? | Is The So-Called Network Quality Of QuarterLife An OxyMoron?

Posted on Wednesday 19 September 2007

QuarterLife LogoQuarterlife is a new online television show which we have looked at here on WebTVWire before.

It’s a series of eight-minute videos, created by Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick which is being touted as the first network quality show produced for online viewing.

In a recent Business Week article MySpace Goes Hollywood, MySpace was tossing the term “Network Quality” around when talking about this forthcoming show without much understanding of what it means.

As someone who has shot content for “Broadcast”, the term is specific to certain technical parameters for transmission of SD or HD signals…for another post.

Video Encoding Made Faster & Easier With Ripcode | New Time Saving Online Video Tool

Posted on Tuesday 18 September 2007

Ripcode LogoVideo on the Internet has grown at such an explosive rate that the phenomenon has put an increasing strain on servers, and with it the need for extra storage space.

With video iPods, PSPs, iPhones and many other mobile devices offering video playback, it has become necessary to offer videos in multiple different formats which takes up more space and eats up more bandwidth requirements.

To provide a solution for this growing dilemma, RipCode has been hard at work for the past 18 months developing an appliance-based video transcoding solution that works on-demand and on-the-fly.

Today, RipCode is launching its service and V4 device and it has announced that MySpace is on-board for testing.

FLVorful | The Online Video Advertising Marketplace Set for Failure

Posted on Tuesday 18 September 2007

FLVorful

Online video advertising is only just beginning to see the light of day. Despite being early days there are still a growing number of companies beginning to fight it out to become the key players in online video advertising.

We’ve seen early pioneers with video sharing sites such as Revver and Metacafe offering to share advertising revenue with its video creators, and also seen YouTube beginning to get involved.

Putting the video sharing giants aside, focused video advertising start-ups are popping up faster than crappy reality TV shows.

We’ve already mentioned a handful here on WebTVWire.com including LiveRail, vComm, Adjustables, ScanScout and Yume Networks, never mind all the stuff Google has up its sleeve.

With all this competition heating up you expect any entrant into the video advertising market to be bringing something very hot and spicy to the table.

FLVorful.com Beta – WebTVWire Review

FLVorful describes itself as the “internet’s video ad marketplace” offering a place to buy and sell video advertising.

Video publishers can sell ad space within their video and advertisers can hunt down individual videos to advertise in, or alternatively advertise in all videos within a certain category. Although not particularly innovative it sounds simple and could be a good idea.

Unfortunately as I looked deeper into the site I was unable to find anything particularly good about this start up. Honestly I don’t see much future in FLVorful for the following reasons:
